Dear Families,
Term 2 is off to a good start, with more students projected to return to Learning at School next week. We have all learned a lot about the importance of relationships, connection and communication through this period of uncertainty. One of the really good things that has come out of the COVID-19 experience has been realisation throughout the world that teaching is not an easy job, and that we really are all in this together.
Thank you to all those parents who have realised just how complex and mentally exhausting the job of teaching really is, and stepping up to the plate in a School at Home environment. We truly acknowledge and appreciate the work you have done with your children: this isn't something you had time to prepare for, to study for, or really plan. It is a job that is physically and very mentally and emotionally tiring, and we applaud you for helping your child adapt and succeed at home.
Thank you to all the teachers and educators who do this day in, day out, everyday. Working in a school has been recognised as one of the most challenging and tiring occupations that impacts on their own home life. Adding a pandemic in the mix and adapting learning for children during this time has taken tenacity, courage and flexibility. So why do they do it? Because education is also recognised as one of the most rewarding career paths in the world. Thank you Team!
When restrictions are lifted and the threat is over, I'm really looking forward to organising a family night for our school community. In the meantime, I'm also looking forward to welcoming more happy faces back to school on Monday! I'm pleased to say that school timetabling will return to normal on Monday for students at school. Home learners will still recieve work and support, although it may look a little different.
Have a safe and relaxing weekend, and enjoy celebrating Mother's Day with any maternal figures in your life. I know I'm going to enjoy coffee and cake in the sunshine with my daughters! I wonder what they'll make me for breakfast?!
Warm regards,
Morwenna Stanford
Principal
Social Distancing
At this time, we welcome parents onto school grounds being mindful of social distancing guidelines. It is really important that we still remain 1.5m from other adults, utilise hand sanitiser as required, and avoid touching eachother, in line with health recommendations for COVID-19. Congragating on the quadrangle at drop off and pick up is fine, but please refrain from waiting on the verandahs or entering classrooms. If you wish to enter your child's classroom, please stop by the office first. Anne or Morwenna will speak with you. Thank you for your understanding.
Hats and Water Bottles
Please ensure your child has a broad brimmed or bucket hat and a drink bottle every day. The school enforces a strict 'No Hat, No Play' policy, for the benefit of all students. Be mindful the drink fountains or still off for hygiene reasons. The students still have access to water to fill up drink bottles in their classrooms, at the fountains and in the library.
Uniforms
If your child requires any uniform items, please see Anne at the front office. We actively encourage all students to wear their Andamooka Primary School uniform with pride.
Student Sign In
If your child is late to school, it is a requirement they sign in at the front office, in the sign in book. Junior Primary students need to be signed in by a parent or caregiver, whilst Primary students can sign themselves in. Thank you.
Absences
If your child is going to be absent from school, please let the office know by 9am each day.
